Not sure where to put these pages in the long term so I'll lump them here until I decide what to do.  They are all family related (more or less) so this is as good a place as any.  I will advise when I start to use the Family History Pictures and Text pages.  Until then, check here.  The Photo Album page has goodies now and more to come... right soon now!

The Delaneys

Here are the pictures that started the whole mess. I knew very little about my mother's family, particularly the maternal line (Delaney and Mitchell).  My venerable and ancient aunt Carol (O'Connell) Gallagher gave me what became [del2] after I slaved over it.  The picture piqued my curiosity.  Who had scratched the little guy's face up and drew glasses on the baby?  A prank, a snit?  Who knows?  Turned the battered photo over to my eldest daughter Kim who came back with [del1], a great improvement over the original and my attempt to 'fix' it.  And thus was a passion for frigging about with scans born.  Nuff talk.  Here they are along with a scan of a Delaney tintype [lady] to look at.  Can you spot any people in more than one scan?

The O'Connells

I know my life would be significantly shortened if I did not give equal billing to my O'Connels so without further ado here's a few.

Of course, the first scan must be my own private set of O'Connells - the family of Irvine William and Beulah Jane (Delaney) O'Connell.

Back row:  Nanny (Grandmother), Babe, Reg
Middle row: Stella (Mum), Izzy, Doug, Gordon, Pa (Grandfather)
Front row: Carol (in a full snit!), Ruthie (Dus) and Auddie

[oc1]

It's what I called them.  God bless them all.

Here's a batch of five to whet your appetite.  First is my Great Uncle Bob (I think) and some kid [cf1].  Next [cf2] is that ancient aunt I mentioned. She's 9 years older than I but 15 years younger.  Go figure!

[swim] is another aunt.  Them O'Connell girls!

I know there's no cf3 - so what! I cheated! [cf4] is a scan of a gathering O'Connels (and friends) and spouses at the beach at Shipyards.

Last [cf5] is an odd little 'remember when' from WWII (no I wasn't in it). Flags in the window and pictures of serving 'boys' and a star on a royal blue background to hang in the window.  I barely remember but the gratitude still runs deep.

Sutherlands

Here are other members of the extended Sutherland family.  My deepest appreciation to my cousin Walter Long for pictures and his invaluable assistance identifying friends and family.

From Walter

Robert Sutherland McMaster, a cousin I knew nothing about till now.

JCS, Carrie, and Marguerite?  If it is M, it's the only picture I've seen.

Not as good

Some lousy scans but all I have.  [psfn1] is Wendell, Justy, and Violet. [sf1] is '3 cousins' Thelma, Florence and Carrie. [sf2] is Margaret (Fraser) Sutherland with her children Ann, Tom, Bess (sitting next to Mum on our left), Mary Violet (My Grandmother), and Carrie. [sf3] I'm not sure about but our best guess is the old one room school at Covered Bridge.  If so, there's sure to be relatives somewhere in this lot!  I love the expressions and the hats!
